Reminder about open house on Saturday

Some people complain that there’s nothing to do in Los Alamos….Apparently those people don’t belong to the Newcomers and Neighbors!

Newcomers and Neighbors is a social club for families, couples and singles. It’s an easy way to find things to do, meet people in town and make lifelong friends.

As a member you’ll get invited to a variety of parties, activities and events. We’ll get together for barbecues, book clubs, play dates and exercise groups. It’s only $15 for the whole family to join.

“I moved to Los Alamos when my son was 2 months old. I didn’t know anyone,” said Michelle Donahue, who works at CB Fox. “I met all me friends through Newcomers and Neighbors and I’m still friends with them today!”

It’s the perfect time to join Newcomers and Neighbors. We’re having an open house on Saturday, January 30, from 1:30-3:30 pm at the Coffeehouse Café. Come to get more information, meet current members and join!

You can also join by emailing melaniern5@msn.com. Visit our blog at http://nandnlosalamos.blogspot.com/.

N&N Writer’s Group

Do you want to write a novel, some short stories or a memoir and want to meet others who are doing the same? Then join us for the N&N Writer’s Group!

We’re looking for 4-7 people who are committed to meeting once a month to share writing, support each other, improve our writing and (who knows?) maybe even get published.

If you’re interested, or even if you’re on the fence, come to our first meeting on Monday, February 2nd at the Coffee Booth Café from 7-8 pm.

Contact Mandy Marksteiner at 515-7001 for more details.

Officers Meeting - big plans for February!

Melanie, Nalani, Erin and I got together to open up our calendar and plan some sweet activities for February.

You'll be able to get more details at the Open House this Saturday at the Coffee Booth from 1:30-3:00. We'd like to recruit more members and be there to answer questions. Stop by and bring a friend.

We were talking about starting two new groups; a writers' group (which will meet Monday, Feb 2nd at the Coffee Booth from 7-8) and a poker night at Melanie's house on Feb 24th.

Craft night will be at Melissa's on the 9th and at my place (hi, it's me, Mandy Marksteiner) on the 23rd.

There will be a Valentines Day party on the 12th where the kids can make simple Valentines (or valentine cookies depending on our moods).

Finally, Girls' night out will be on the 17th. Nobody should miss this - we're going to The Hilltop House for massages (at a discount! 20 minutes for $20 or 30 minutes for $30) plus a free yoga class from 6-7:30. They realize that some of the club members are pregnant and they can do prenatal massages and will tailor yoga class if necessary. Also, we'll get coupons for 1 hour spa treatments for $59 (they're usually $80).

Everybody in N&N is welcome to come to craft night on January 12th and the 26th. Melanie Colgan will host on the 12th and Nalani Kimball will host on the 26th.

If you're thinking about joining Newcomers and Neighbors, why not stop by a craft night? You can get to know us and decide if you want to join. If anyone needs directions to either house, email me at many.marksteiner@hotmail.com.

Officers for 2009

On Wednesday we had a meeting where we passed the responsibility off to four new officers.

Melanie Evans is President
Nalani Kimball is Vice President
Mandy Marksteiner is Secretary
Erin James is Treasurer

We'll try our best to make the club as fun as it was last year!
